Job Purpose

Reporting directly to the Tax Director you will be expected to provide a high standard of service to designated clients, in preparing complex tax computations, tax planning assignments and ensuring that all statutory requirements, including deadlines, are met. To lead the tax department and communicate with all staff and directors and act on guidelines issued from the HM Revenue & Customs and other agencies on behalf of clients.

Key Responsiblities

  • To manage a substantial portfolio of client relationships preparing tax computations and tax returns for client businesses and individuals as required.
  • Provide assistance to tax director on tax planning projects and other assignments, including capital gains tax, inheritance tax and income tax planning.
  • Provide internal taxation advice to all staff members and directors when required.
  • Liaising with our external tax consultant on planning projects where necessary.
  • Planning, supervising and conducting all elements of tax.
  • To manage and supervise the tax department staff engaged on work for your designated client portfolio.
  • To deal with telephone calls from clients and HM Revenue & Customs in respect of your designated clients and dealing with correspondence arising from your tax work.
  • To attend office management meetings as required.

Job Specific Responsibilities to include:

  • Control tax return progress across both offices.
  • Providing regular progress reports and updates to directors.
  • Maintain effective communications with other client managers to ensure tax return information is received on a timely basis.
  • Liaise with client managers on company year ends to pick up details for directors self assessment tax returns. Monitor completion of the returns as soon after 5 April as possible.
  • Reviewing self assessment tax returns and corporation tax returns and computations.
  • Completion of complex self assessment tax returns.
  • Meet with new clients as and when required.
  • Knowledge of trust tax, stamp duty land tax and VAT an advantage.
  • Organising the housekeeping and maintenance of Digita tax pro database.
  • Organise and monitor P11d preparation and completion.
  • Manage the tax team and co-ordinate the work to ensure that we can establish exactly what they are working on and prioritise the work effectively amongst team members.
  • Dealing effectively with technical one-off tasks from all Directors.
  • Maintain the effective housekeeping of the HMRC on-line database - organise with the Admin team.
  • Offer help, support and training to the tax team as and when required.
  • Identify tax planning opportunities.

Job Purpose

To provide a high standard of service to clients, drafting business accounts and ensuring that all statutory requirements, including deadlines, are met. To effectively communicate and act on guidelines issued from HMRC and other agencies on behalf of clients.

Key Responsiblities

  • To draft financial statements for client businesses for review.
  • To draft tax computations and tax returns for client businesses and individuals for review.
  • Assist with client audits in the office and on site.

Additional Responsibilities may include any of the following

  • Drafting and completion of VAT registration applications and returns.
  • Drafting cashflows and forecasts.
  • Drafting Accountant’s references for mortgage/loan applications and insurance.
  • Drafting reconstituted accounts for clients to present to potential purchasers of their businesses.
  • Advising clients on bookkeeping methods and improvements to existing methods.
  • Attending SWAT courses and other external and internal training/update courses which are relevant to your clients e.g. Charities, Solicitors.
  • Drafting and filing various statutory forms on behalf of client businesses.
  • Drafting management accounts for clients.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experienced in dealing with clients in person
  • IT skills; with working knowledge of Windows applications i.e., Word, Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excel, Outlook and Xero.
  • Ideally with minimum AAT Qualification with say 2/3 years PQE.
  • Salary negotiable dependant on experience.

Job Purpose

The role will primarily be to provide a high standard of support to our account clerks, assisting them to compile accounting working papers, to support the client’s accounts, including preparation of tax returns (both corporate and personal).

Full training will be given as well as attending college to study AAT, as part of the Apprenticeship.

Key Responsiblities

  • To assist account clerks with preparing accounts for clients who are either sole traders, partnerships or limited companies
  • Preparation of client tax computations
  • Preparation of VAT returns and other bookkeeping tasks
  • Supporting the team through general office duties
  • To manage own time and workloads effectively with supervision
  • Be motivated and highly effective whether working independently or as part of a team

Knowledge and Experience

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Accurate, methodical and inquisitive approach to work
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues
  • Ability to work in a busy team and meet deadlines
  • IT skills; good knowledge of Windows applications i.e. Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Practice experience – not required, as training will be provided
  • 5 GCSE (or equivalent) C or above (4-9) (including Maths and English) or minor accounting experience or has undertaken some study of the accounts area (e.g. started AAT)
