Richard trained and qualified with Condy and Company in Plymouth, qualifying in 1985 and becoming a partner in January 1990.
He specialises in commercial work - in particular owner managed businesses. He has extensive experience with property developers, nursing homes and charitable companies. Through his work as treasurer and trustee of a large charity for people with learning difficulties he has obtained expertise in the care sector.
He obtained his Financial Planning Certificate in December 1999 and oversees the in-house financial services department of the firm.
Richard has also been instrumental in forming joint ventures with CMB Independent Mortgage Consultants assisting clients with their personal mortgage requirements and also Mark Harvey of Riversedge Business Finance to provide advice and guidance to clients on banking matters and all aspects of commercial finance. |
| Outside work: |
Richard is married and has three children with a newly arrived daughter who was born in June 2008. He has represented the Western Counties in both swimming and water polo and he is a keen supporter of Plymouth Argyle. |

Stephen trained and qualified with Price Waterhouse in Southampton and then had spells in their Jersey and Cardiff offices before moving to Plymouth to join Mathias & Co in 1987.
He combines the experience gained at PW and over the last 15 years in dealing with a wide portfolio of clients ranging from limited companies with audit requirements to sole traders.He specialises particularly in assisting small businesses computerise their accounting systems.
Stephen is the Treasurer of a local association of a national charity. |

John trained with Deloitte Plender Griffiths in London and qualified in 1967. He transferred to the Montreal Office of Haskins and Sells and worked there and in various North American offices of the firm until 1971, when he returned to his home town of Plymouth and bought a partnership in Condy Mathias.
John has a range of small business clients in the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall and Devon and has particular interest in the agricultural sector. He also undertakes most of the firm's executorship and trusteeship work.
For many years John served on the Institute's local taxation advisory panel but more recently became involved in the establishment of the National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, a project on which he has served, mostly as a Trustee, since 1988. This work has provided useful experience of grant funding, negotiations in Brussels, Charity regulations and sitting on railway trains. |

Outside interests include walking, observing and worrying about the natural environment, listening to orchestral music, Scottish country dancing, woodland management and being with his family. John is Honorary Treasurer of Devon Wildlife Trust, a past president of the Plymouth Proprietary Library and is a churchwarden of his local church. |

John has been with the firm both "man and boy". Having completed an Accountancy Course at Plymouth John joined the then Mathias & Co in 1988 working from their Plymouth and Tavistock offices whilst studying for his professional exams. Following a move to Condy & Co in 1992 he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and after the merger of the two firms in 1996 became a partner in 1998, and now spends time working from both offices.
He has always been involved with owner-managed clients of all sizes within the firm. This has given him considerable experience of the particular issues faced by those types of businesses in sectors such as retail, manufacturing, construction, stockbroking, financial services and agriculture. He is also responsible for the managing the Tavistock office and the IT of the firm. |
Outside work: |
John lives in Tavistock with his wife and two daughters, likes to keep fit by cycling and swimming with a local 'masters' club and enjoys reading, cooking and socialising with friends and family. |

Kathy joined the firm in 1992 and worked in the small business department dealing with accounts and similar services for owner-managed enterprises. She soon decided she wanted to specialise in tax and passed her Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) exams in 1993 and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in 2001. She manages the tax department and specialises in trusts and capital tax planning.
Although based mainly in our Plymouth office, Kathy is also a familiar visitor at our Tavistock office and these visits are likely to increase as she undertakes more complicated tax planning. |
| Outside work: |
Kathy is interested in non-competitive running, and often takes part in the annual Plymouth Race for Life with the other ladies in the Condy Mathias team. She also takes pride in looking after her growing family and getting involved with their activities. |

Roger was formerly a fully trained District Inspector of Taxes before leaving the Revenue to take up consultancy services in 1984. |

Roger has been our taxation consultant since May 1984 when he moved from the Inland Revenue to SWAT Ltd. Roger specialises in personal and corporate taxation and has extensive experience of capital taxes (Capital Gains and Inheritance Taxes).
When Roger left SWAT Ltd to form his own taxation consultancy (WestTax Taxation Consultancy) we had been so pleased with our experience of his work that we followed him to WestTax.
Roger is available to us on a needs basis and we usually use his services between three and four days each month. Over the years, by a mixture of skill, attention to detail and tenacity we have been able to utilise Roger's strengths to save literally hundreds of thousands of pounds in tax for the benefit of our clients and their businesses. |

Roger has interests in the breeding of thoroughbred racehorses and enjoys reasonably frequent and regular visits to France with his wife and two children. |

Career lending banker with HSBC. Retired from position as Senior Commercial Manager, Plymouth in 2005.
Mark has since started his own company, Riversedge Business Finance Ltd through which he assists clients with all aspects of commercial finance and banking matters.
Mark joined Condy Mathias in November 2008 as Practice Manager but his experience in banking and commercial finance also complements the services available to clients of Condy Mathias with whom a longer term relationship is being developed. |

Mark enjoys all forms of sport but particularly Football ( Argyle season ticket holder ), Cricket and Golf. Other interests include, socializing, holidays, reading, walking, cycling and keeping up to date with current affairs. |
