Condy Mathias are pleased to announce the appointment on 1 April 2008 of our new partner, Kathy Lyne.
Originally from Holcombe, near Teignmouth, Kathy joined the firm 16 years ago and worked in the small business department dealing with accounts and similar services for owner-managed enterprises. It did not take long before Kathy realised that she wanted to specialise in tax. She passed her Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) exams in 1993 and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) in 2001. She has most recently been our Senior Tax Manager, specialising in trusts and estate planning.
Kathy has acquired considerable expertise and skill, particularly in trusts and inheritance tax planning, and this, coupled with her managerial experience and excellent relationship with both clients and staff, helped to make the decision to appoint Kathy as our first female partner an easy one.
Although based mainly in our Plymouth office, Kathy is also a familiar visitor at our Tavistock office and these visits are likely to increase as she undertakes more complicated tax planning. Using her tax knowledgeKathy will often link with the professionals in our financial services company, Condy Mathias Financial Planners and its associated mortgage brokering business, CMB to provide a more comprehensive planning service for our clients.
Kathy is very much a team player and is greatly respected both within the firm and outside it. She mixes her highly professional attitude with a keen sense of humour, staff and clients alike find her fun to work with and easy to relate to.
Away from the office Kathy is interested in non-competitive running, and often takes part in the annual Plymouth Race for Life with the other ladies in the Condy Mathias team. She also takes pride in looking after her growing family and getting involved with their activities.
